14-year-old in Catoosa County sustains gunshot wound

PRESS RELEASE – According to Sheriff Gary R. Sisk on July 3, 2024, at approximately 9:30 AM, deputies from the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distressing incident at a residence on Neal Drive, in Rossville, GA.

The incident involved a 14-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located the victim and immediately began life-saving measures in conjunction with emergency medical personnel.

The victim was transported to Te Thompson Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery upon arrival.

His condition is guarded.

The Catoosa County Sherifl’s Office is actively investigating the cause and nature of this incident. Initial reports are that a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old were playing with a firearm and the firearm discharged striking the 14-year-old male.

No further details will be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
