I am Kayla Hollifield and I am running for the Georgia House of Representatives from
District 11. To give you an idea of who I am, I am a mother to a beautiful little girl (Dolly), a lifelong
resident of Pickens County, 29 years. I grew up, the majority of my life, in Tate, Ga and now reside
in the beautiful city of Talking Rock for the past 10 years.
I began working at the age of 15 and that is when I began learning about the human
condition. The more I learned, the greater my desire became to do something more for those who
are in some way disadvantaged. I moved into my first home when I was 20 and later that same
year, I brought a beautiful baby girl into this world. That is when I absolutely knew I had to do more
in this world, not only for my daughter but also for you and your family to have a community you
can be proud to call home.
I have always admired our wonderful community, not only because of the beautiful North
Georgia Mountains we get to call home every day but even more reason to love it, is that the
people of our tri-state area care about their neighbors and practice good old southern hospitality. I
have always strived to be a positive role model for everyone around me and I always have had a
passion for making our community a better place.
I have been actively involved in that process a few different ways. I am currently serving on
the Pickens County Library board for over 2 years. I was appointed to the Library board by the
Mayor of Talking Rock in 2018. I served for the Pickens County School System as a substitute
teacher, working with all grades, primarily kindergarten. I also remain active in organizing like-
minded people to support better government. In doing so, I express the need for people of every
political stripe to prioritize working together on common goals rather than focusing solely on
differences. As your State Representative, I promise to bridge the Gap at the Capitol and work with
my Republican colleagues on a bipartisan basis to identify our needs as a team.
Above all, in everything I do, I will be honest. I will be mindful that my actions reflect the
compassion I feel for people and my deep devotion to democracy and the equality of all people. I
have always felt and still feel empathy for the homeless, the disabled and the elderly, as well as
those who have fallen prey to the powers of illegal drugs, the children of incarcerated individuals,
mentally ill, and disabled, particularly those in Public School classrooms.
As your State Representative, I will focus on ensuring that all people have access to public
assistance when it’s really needed. A few more other aspirations as a Georgia House member
include, working on Freedom, Opportunity and Security. Be looking for Kayla Hollifield on the
Democratic ballot on November 3, 2020!
• Economic Growth: Particularly supporting entrepreneurs in North Georgia who will
create good-paying jobs.
• Diversity: Creating a local environment in which different kinds of people are
accepted, encouraged, and simulated into the population.
• Affordable Healthcare for ALL: Healthcare is a major concern for everyone,
especially now with covid-19 causing havoc. I will do my best to support any
legislation introduced in the house that would help to make Healthcare affordable to
• Protecting our Environment: I know we are all concerned about the rules that
have kept us safe, as in our environment and food. Now, coal, ash and other toxins
are being dumped into our waterways. Farmer’s no longer wash their produce in
clean water and food- borne illness has increased since the repeal of meat
inspection rules. The Department of Agriculture took down the section on their
website where the figures could be seen by the public. I can’t do anything about
federal regulations, but I want a seat at the table where regulations that affect our
health are passed in Georgia. I’ll work to fill in that gap for you.
Be a part of the change. Help “bridge the gap” and vote for me, Kayla Hollifield as your
next Georgia State House Representative for District 11.
