Hit and run in Catoosa County

Catoosa County, Ga. – According to the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office, “On November 29, at approximately 8:45 PM, GSP Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on GA-2 (2847 Battlefield Parkway) in Catoosa County.

The investigation determined that a Harley motorcycle being driven by 51-year-old Franklin Coyne, was hit in the rear at a high rate of speed by a pickup truck, possibly a dark in color Ford F-250. After impact, the driver of the truck left the scene in the truck leaving the motorcyclist to die on the side of GA-2 in the rain.

The identity of the truck driver was unknown at time. Coyne succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

GSP SCRT Troop A responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation. After an intense investigation by GSP SCRT Troopers and with assistance from the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department they were able to locate the truck on Colony Cir in Fort Oglethorpe.

After further investigation, warrants were taken out for Jeremy Shawn Wright, 46, of Ringgold, for the following charges: failure to report accident with injury, death, or damage, false statements, no registration, felony vehicular homicide (1st degree), following too close, hit and run with fatality, suspended license and no insurance. Wright was arrested by Hamilton County on Monday and booked waiting extradition back to Catoosa County.
