PRESS RELEASE – On March 17th, a Catoosa County jury convicted Nathaniel Lee Green for sodomizing and molesting a two-year-old child, after a two-day trial before Superior Court Judge Don Thompson.

Green, 35, was convicted on 7 counts of sexually related crimes against the young child including:

Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, Child Molestation, and Incest.

The case originated from an unrelated investigation in Texas which was conducted by Sgt. Jerry Serratt from the Montgomery County Texas Constables Office. Sgt. Serratt, a member of the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested a Texas man, Justin Guill. Upon searching Guill’s electronics, conversations between Guill and Green were located where Green admitted to molesting the two-year-old child in Georgia, and showed that the men were exchanging child pornography. Thereafter, Sgt. Serratt went undercover online posing as a child predator and contacted Green. In those conversations, Green described in detail the sexual acts he performed on the child and sent Sgt. Serratt images of child pornography.

Thereafter, Green was arrested in Georgia for sending child pornography to Texas and evidence was turned over to Det. Clay Thompson of the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office to further investigate the child sexual abuse that occurred in Georgia. A few days later, Det. Thompson arrested Green on Catoosa County warrants related to the sexual assault on the child.

The case was presented to the jury by Assistant District Attorney David Wolfe with the assistance of Victim Witness Advocate Ashley Nicholson, who coordinated and communicated with the victim’s family and witnesses from Texas, and District Attorney’s Office Chief Investigator Christy Smith, who provided investigative support to the trial team. At trial, ADA Wolfe presented evidence showing Green’s text messages to Guill and Sgt Serratt. In those messages Green describes, in detail, multiple acts of sodomy that he performed on the child. Green also made several references to wanting to kidnap a child and even stated, “Man I’m at Dave and Busters and all these kids walking around are sooooo tempting.” Green’s wife testified that several years prior, while having sex with Green, Green told her that he wanted to adopt a child to join them in the bedroom. Additionally, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Jennifer Stephenson testified that upon examining the young child, she discovered a tear to the child’s perianal region that was consistent with sexual abuse.

On March 17th, after a two-day trial, the jury found Nathaniel Green guilty of all 7 counts of sexually related crimes against the child. Immediately following the return of the verdict, Judge Don Thompson held a sentencing hearing for Green. During sentencing, Green’s attorney argued for the minimum sentence stating that the child victim would be an adult by the time Green was released and thus would be safe from Green. ADA Wolfe argued for the maximum sentence stating that safety concerns existed not only for the child victim in this case, but for any child in this community if Green
